Contagious China
While “Resilient China” focuses on the institutional strategies of maintaining regime stability, “Contagious China” is the other side of the coin. For this line of research, I have focused on the role of the media in constructing public opinion and in shaping social movements, especially student activism, in mainland China and Hong Kong. I proposed “social movements as a dialogic process” as a new framework to examine the role of the media during social movements.
